P.I. Research Pty. Ltd. was established in August 2008 by David Cousins to provide professional economic and public policy consulting services to public and private sector clients.
The public interest (P.I.) is a key focus of the practice. We look for solutions to problems that are in the interests of our clients as well as the broader public interest.
The P.I. also stands for Phillip Island where the practice was established.

David is an applied industry economist with senior public sector, academic and consulting experience. He is a past Chairman of the Prices Surveillance Authority and Commissioner with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. He was Director of Consumer Affairs in Victoria for many years and in more recent times has played an active part in reforms affecting the taxi industry and the funding of fire and emergency services organisations. He has had private sector consulting experience as a Director with KPMG Management Consulting and has taught economic regulation and consumer policy and regulation at graduate level in the Law School at Monash University.
In January 2009 he was appointed a member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his contribution to consumer policy and its administration in Australia.
